After picking the base colors that i want I play around with the hue on each individual color, changing it slightly (around 15-20 up or down/leaning towards purple hue) until I'm happy with the layout. Sometimes it's good, if a color is to dark to change the brightness of that color. (I had to do that with the claws and horns in this picture)
