I am terrible (or I just don't try) at drawing humans, but at drawing animals I have a few own shapes of eyes, that I am using. And about the shading - I'm ALWAYS shading the pupil and giving it a reflection, it's making the eyes more life. But as I said - there isn't one way to draw eyes, it depends on your style and experience ^^
