Smudger always was very tricky to use, you can over do it and then it will even change colors you are smudging. So! And here goes tge best trick I've learn...

βͺ[u:188f8435-43c7-4dbf-ae41-0bbdd41d8269]β¬ when I want very gently transition in shading I paint with paintbrush <or airbrush in beta version > with high opacity color, I'm putting few strokes until the shading is complete, just like in traditional art. Doing this, I'm saving quality which smudger is destroying. Smudging only one layer is impossible here, you will always smudge layer you are IN and all under it. If you have any layers above - you have to hide them πβπ¨! They won't be touched.
